My go to place – Cannon Hall Gardens

Where is the one place you always feel like home?

To me, feeling at home means feeling relaxed, at ease, as though all the day-to-day commotion and bustle has just stopped and you haven’t got a worry in the world.

By home this is really an abstract concept, it is a state of mind. Somewhere, you feel safe, loved, accepted, and relaxed.

If I am feeling stressed, anxious or nervous, it’s the place that brings me peace, calm and tranquilly. To feel back in the moment of now with no thought for the future or the past.

That place for me is Cannon Hall Gardens.

I am blessed to have such a beautiful place so close to where I live, being there is my magic therapy.

  • Listen to the birds
  • Smell the roses
  • Look at the flowers
  • Feel the sun on your skin
  • Watch the clouds in the sky
  • Spot the squirrel
  • Sit and rest a while
  • Feel in the moment
  • Every season brings its own pleasures
  • Even the wilting flowers bring me joy

The Fairy Garden

Especially the fairy garden that holds so many special memories over the years. I sat on the bench, closed my eyes, took deep breaths and made wishes. It is the special place where I dreamed of being creative and made plans for the future. In discovering that creativity heals and developing my business, Art for Wellness.

It reminds me of a secret garden filled with aromas, nature’s noises, flowers, plants and trees.

  • Peace
  • Quite
  • Tranquility
  • Adventure
  • Learning
  • New life
  • Growth
  • Secrets
  • Wishes
  • Dreams
  • Inspiration

From reading the novel as a child “The Secret Garden is a by Frances Hodgson Burnett first published in 1911.”

Reframing is a skill that takes practice, just like art. But once you start, you’ll find yourself seeing the world—and your creativity—in a whole new light.

Delights of the gardens

The landscaping and garden design at Cannon Hall is truly amazing and changes each season so their is always something worth seeing.

As I get older, all I want to do is surround myself with places and experiences that are good for me and my soul.

I need to be able to restart and refocus as many times as I need.

I want to be surrounded by people who are authentic and true, who get excited about your plans.

In creating a life that feels good on the inside, not just looks good on the outside.

Behind the scenes

Imagine a shed with tools of all kinds and getting together with friends to immerse yourself in nature finding your green fingers.

How would you like to help people in very ordinary ways – reassuring them that they are in the right place and guiding them through the garden, what flowers and plants, the names of trees.

Why not check out and see if you could write, create or inspire others with your knowledge, hints and tips.

Creativity comes in many forms and nature is a great inspiration being in a garden sat on your own watching the work go by, or sharing the experience with friends or strangers you meet along the way.

Art therapy is like nature and has existed throughout the ages, just the same way as musical expression or communicating with nature heals the human psyche and physiology.

How would you like to be creative?
