Sharing the Story of Art for Wellness with Thurlstone & Millhouse Green WI
It was a real pleasure to be invited to speak with the wonderful ladies of Thurlstone & Millhouse Green WI and share the story behind Art for Wellness CIC.
Debbie shared her personal journey of discovering art later in life and how creativity became an important part of her own wellbeing. What began as a personal passion gradually grew into something much bigger — a community-focused organisation that supports people through therapeutic creativity.
During the talk, Debbie spoke openly about the ups and downs of starting a new business: the uncertainty, the determination, and the moments that helped shape Art for Wellness into what it is today. From small beginnings to running regular workshops and creative wellbeing sessions, the journey has been driven by a simple belief — that art has the power to bring people together, support mental wellbeing, and create meaningful connections.
The evening also included a gentle therapeutic art activity where everyone created their own spring wreath drawings, enjoying a calm and creative space filled with conversation and laughter.
Thank you to the ladies of Thurlstone & Millhouse Green WI for such a warm welcome. Opportunities like this are a wonderful reminder of how creativity can connect communities and support wellbeing.
Art for Wellness CIC continues to offer welcoming creative workshops designed to support wellbeing, connection, and self-expression through art. ✨
