#Drawingforwellbeingday2026 – Drawing for Wellbeing
The first-ever Drawing For Wellbeing Day will take place on Wednesday, 25 February.
Organiser, Isobel Murdoch, tells us everything we need to know…
The aim of the Day is to highlight just how beneficial drawing can be, in many different ways.
It’s a simple, tangible creative activity that requires little time and few materials, but can be expressive, calming, mindful, absorbing and fun.
Drawing for Wellbeing Day encourages organisations, groups and individuals to
draw, to arrange events large and small, and to share how you get on using the tag
#drawingforwellbeingday2026
Maybe you run or attend a community group, or could arrange a drawing event in a
hospital, a care home, a school, a museum or gallery, a community centre, or any
other space.
The theme of this first Day is Ready Steady Draw, with a focus on quick and enjoyable ideas.

What inspired you to start this special day?
As I share art for wellbeing with participants, I see all the time just how beneficial art and creativity can be, in many diverse circumstances. I’m passionate about encouraging as many people as possible to experiment with art for wellbeing, whether they enjoy art already or haven’t drawn a line since they left school. A dedicated day to spotlight drawing for wellbeing felt like a good way to engage a wider audience and to celebrate all that drawing can do to enrich life and lift spirits. Isobel Murdoch

Like all art and creativity, art roots us in life, grounds us when we struggle, expresses how we feel, absorbs us in the moment and connects us in community. And drawing is quick and simple, with no setting up, clearing away or mess. All you really need is a pencil or a few pens and a sheet of paper.
Time and again people say “But I can’t draw”. I think drawing can do such a lot to enrich life that nobody should miss out. And it’s not about being good at drawing. It’s about drawing to do yourself good.
So take part in the very first Drawing For Wellbeing Day this February, and get ready, get set, and draw! Isobel Murdoch
Will there be a way for people to share their drawings (if they’d like to)?
It would be fantastic if people would like to share their drawings on social media using the tag #drawingforwellbeingday2026 And if they would like their artwork featured on the Day’s webpage (https://medley.live/draw) then they can email images to medleymusicartnature@outlook.com
Art for Wellness Joins Drawing for Wellbeing Day

At Art for Wellness, we believe creativity is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to support emotional wellbeing, connection, and self-expression. That’s why we were delighted to become involved in Drawing for Wellbeing Day 2026.
The Day aligns beautifully with our mission to make art accessible, inclusive, and community-focused. We love the invitation for people to share their drawings—if they’d like to—because it celebrates creativity without pressure or judgement.
We introduced this lovely sharing concept during our recent Wellness Wednesday workshop, inviting members to take part in Drawing for Wellbeing Day by creating their own meaningful drawings.
Our theme this week was butterflies and dragonflies, beautiful symbols of transformation, hope, and new beginnings. These gentle creatures remind us that change can be positive and that growth often happens quietly and gradually. Members embraced the theme with creativity and care, producing some truly uplifting artwork — and we even created handmade bookmarks alongside the drawings. Check out the amazing creations our group brought to life and feel inspired by the power of art for wellbeing.

You can see more in our video via the link below.
Here’s what our members thought about the session — a calm, uplifting experience that helped them relax, focus, and enjoy expressing themselves creatively. It was wonderful to hear how much the simple act of drawing butterflies and dragonflies supported their wellbeing and brought a sense of connection to the group.

We have another workshop for therapeutic art on Thursday and hope to encourage our members to participate too.
Thank you, Isobel, for this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to creating together again in the future.
