Summer Wreaths Workshop – Wellness Wednesday at St John’s Community Centre

Celebrating the Beauty of Summer Through Creativity

A Warm Welcome

Our Wellness Wednesday group at St John’s Community Centre is always a welcoming place to spend a creative morning. As everyone arrived, the room quickly filled with friendly conversations, smiles and the excitement of seeing familiar faces, alongside welcoming new members into our creative community.

Whether attending for the first time or returning to another Art for Wellness CIC workshop, everyone was encouraged to relax, take time for themselves and simply enjoy the creative journey together.

Finding Inspiration in Summer

Before beginning our wreaths, we took a few moments to slow down and reflect on what summer means to each of us.

Together we shared thoughts of colourful gardens, blooming flowers, butterflies dancing through the air, family gatherings, holidays, sunshine, birdsong and peaceful walks in nature.

These gentle moments of mindfulness helped everyone settle into the session and inspired the beautiful creations that followed.

A Guided Summer Meditation

To help us fully embrace the creative process, we enjoyed a short guided meditation.

Participants were invited to slow their breathing, relax and imagine wandering through a peaceful summer garden filled with warm sunshine, colourful flowers and the gentle sounds of nature.

Taking this quiet time allowed everyone to leave behind the busyness of everyday life and enter a calm, creative space.

Creating Our Summer Wreaths

With inspiration gathered, it was time to create.

Using a wonderful selection of papers, flowers, ribbons, leaves and decorative embellishments, each member designed a unique summer wreath that reflected their own personality and memories.

Some wreaths were bursting with bright summer colours, while others captured peaceful countryside scenes or treasured moments spent outdoors.

As always, there was no right or wrong way to create. Every wreath told its own story, making each piece completely unique.

Throughout the morning the room was filled with conversation, laughter, encouragement and quiet moments of mindful concentration as everyone became absorbed in their artwork.

Members’ Makes

One of the greatest joys of our workshops is seeing how differently everyone interprets the same theme.

Although we all started with the same idea, every wreath became a unique expression of its creator.

Together they created a beautiful display that celebrated imagination, individuality and the confidence to create without judgement.

Creativity isn’t about being perfect—it’s about expressing yourself in your own way.
