Spring into Art: A Celebration of Creativity and Renewal

Spring has always felt like a deep breath after a long winter. Buds unfurl. Birds return. Light lingers a little longer each evening. The earth stretches, warms, and begins again.
At Art for Wellness, that feeling of renewal inspires everything we do at this time of year. Our theme “Spring Into Art” was created as a celebration of growth, fresh ideas, and creative possibility. Just as nature awakens, we believe creativity can awaken something within us too — refreshing the mind, lifting the spirit, and bringing people together in meaningful ways.
This seasonal theme first blossomed back in 2022, when Debbie and Heather began exploring how spring symbolism connects to wellbeing. Today, it continues to grow with Debbie, Heather and Rosie — and it has become a cherished part of our March and April programme each year.
🌼 What “Spring Into Art” Means to Us
🌱 A Fresh Start
Spring reminds us that we can begin again. Creativity gives us space to explore new ideas, try new techniques, and step into new artistic journeys without pressure or judgement.
🌿 Growth & Renewal
As the natural world grows, so can we. Through art, we nurture personal development, confidence, and self-expression — sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly.
🎨 Vibrant Colour & Energy
Spring’s bright skies and blooming flowers inspire artwork full of life and joy. Colour becomes a language of hope, light, and possibility.
🌸 Connection with Nature
Many of our seasonal projects draw on the beauty of the outdoors — blossoms, birds, seeds, insects, changing light — encouraging mindfulness and grounding.
✨ Wellness Through Creativity
Like fresh air and sunshine, creativity can boost mood and restore energy. Engaging in art supports mental wellbeing, reduces stress, and creates moments of calm focus.
🤝 Community & Sharing
Spring invites us back outside, back into connection. Our workshops and Members Gallery reflect this spirit — a place where artists of all ages and abilities inspire and uplift one another.
For us, this isn’t just a seasonal theme. It’s a reminder of why we exist — to create welcoming spaces where people can grow, connect, and flourish through creativity.
Ostara – The Spring Equinox

Around March 20th each year, we reach the Spring Equinox — a moment of balance between light and dark. In many traditions, this time is known as Ostara, a celebration of fertility, renewal, and new beginnings.
Ostara is associated with the goddess Eostre (also known as Ostara), a figure linked to dawn, light, and growth. As the days grow longer and warmth returns to the land, she symbolises the turning toward light — a powerful metaphor for creativity and personal renewal.

🌼 Symbols of Ostara
- Eggs
- Flowers
- Rabbits & Hares
- Seeds
- Butterflies
- Bees
- Robins
- Fairies
Each symbol reflects growth, fertility, and transformation — ideas that mirror both the natural world and the creative process.
🌿 Celebrating the Season
Spring invites us to gently reset.
It’s a time to declutter — physically and emotionally.
Out with the old. In with the new.
Fresh flowers in the home. Soft incense like jasmine or rose.
A reminder to live in balance — mind, body, and spirit.
Ways to embrace the energy of the season:
- 🌱 Plant seeds (literal or symbolic)
- 🌸 Fill your home with spring flowers
- 🕯 Burn uplifting incense
- 🧚 Create a fairy garden
- 🥚 Decorate seasonal eggs
- 🍞 Bake hot cross buns
- 🎨 Try a new creative skill
And of course… make art.
Why Spring Matters to Art for Wellness
Spring Into Art is now an annual part of our March and April workshops because it aligns so deeply with our values.
We work with adults seeking connection, creative exploration, and mental wellbeing support. Spring naturally echoes this journey — emerging from darker seasons, finding light, rebuilding confidence, and rediscovering joy.
Each year, our spring programme invites participants to:
- Reflect on personal growth
- Explore new techniques
- Connect with nature-inspired themes
- Share creativity within a supportive community
It’s not just about seasonal crafts. It’s about renewal in every sense.

Known for fertility renewal, new birth and Spring!
Time to declutter and spring clean!

A good time for a spring clean…..
Out with the old and in with the new.
