On Our Travels – Van Gogh Exhibition York

Van Gogh Exhibition York
Van Gogh was born in Holland and became one of the most popular post impressionists for his beauty, emotion and colour.
(1853 – 1890)
We were introduced to Van Gogh through art classes and his style of painting, which we both admired, and we enjoyed learning how to paint our own style based on his paintings.
So when the opportunity was shared on social media to attend a special event in York we jumped at the chance.
The display set in St Mary’s church in York advertised an opportunity to a unique experience where you can step into his paintings and immerse yourself with colour and life filled us with excitement and intrigue.
We received a warm welcome and were invited to sit in the auditorium and relax while we watched the story unfold.
Step inside Van Gogh’s mind and works.
Sit back in a deckchair and enjoy over 200 of his artworks, animated and projected onto the walls of the former church in a 35 minute show with stunning soundtrack.
“The Van Gogh experience offered a wonderful 360 view of various images of his paintings, along with some of his musings being overlaid on top of the classical soundtrack. We happily sat for the full cycle of about 35 minutes in wonder, then had to watch again to take pictures” – Debbie & Heather
This is just a glimpse of some of the featured exhibits, though nothing is quite like experiencing this for yourself, and we both would highly recommend the experience.
