Wellness Wednesday Workshops at St John’s Community Centre

We’re delighted to introduce Wellness Wednesday Workshops, a new series of free creative wellbeing sessions for adults in Penistone, supported by the Co-op Local Community Fund.

Taking place at St John’s Community Centre (Cubley Room), these weekly workshops offer a calm, welcoming space where people can slow down, get creative, and connect with others through gentle, mindful artmaking.

A Space to Breathe, Create and Connect

Wellness Wednesday Workshops are designed to support mental and emotional wellbeing through accessible creative activities. Each session blends mindfulness with hands-on art, helping participants to relax, stay present, and explore creativity in a supportive group setting.

There’s no pressure and no expectation to “be good at art”. These sessions are about the process rather than the outcome — taking time for yourself, enjoying the materials, and being part of a shared creative experience.

All materials are provided, and no previous art experience is needed.

Supporting Wellbeing Through Creativity

At Art for Wellness CIC, we believe creativity can be a powerful tool for wellbeing. Regular creative activity has been shown to reduce stress, ease feelings of isolation, and improve mood. For many people, having a weekly routine and a safe space to connect with others can make a real difference.

Wellness Wednesdays are about more than making art — they’re about community, conversation, confidence, and care.

Thanks to the Co-op Local Community Fund

Thanks to the generous support of the Co-op Local Community Fund, these workshops are free to attend, helping ensure creative wellbeing opportunities remain accessible to everyone in our local community.

We’re proud to be working in partnership with St John’s Community Centre to bring this programme to Penistone and to continue our commitment to inclusive, community-centred creative wellbeing.
