Art for Wellness CIC: 2026 Workshops Now Taking Shape

🌿 Growing Together Through Creativity: Our 2026 Workshop Programme

At Art for Wellness CIC, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year of creativity, connection, and community. Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, we’re expanding our much-loved therapeutic art workshops across a range of beautiful and accessible venues.

Our mission has always been simple: to create welcoming, inclusive spaces where adults can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience the calming benefits of creativity—without pressure or judgement. This new programme allows us to reach even more people across Penistone, Wortley, Barnsley and beyond.

🌸 A Variety of Inspiring Venues

To make our sessions as accessible as possible, we’re hosting workshops in different locations, each offering its own unique atmosphere:

🌿 Wortley Hall, Wortley

A truly special setting, Wortley Hall offers stunning gardens and peaceful surroundings that perfectly complement our nature-inspired workshops. It’s a place many of our members already love for its beauty and sense of calm—ideal for slowing down and finding creative inspiration.

🏡 St John’s Community Centre, Penistone

Located in the heart of Penistone, this friendly and familiar space provides a warm, welcoming environment for our sessions. It’s easy to access and perfect for relaxed, small-group workshops where connections can grow.

🌼 Carers Garden, Barnsley

A peaceful, nurturing outdoor space designed for wellbeing, the Carers Garden offers a beautiful connection to nature. Here, creativity flows alongside the natural environment, supporting relaxation and reflection.

Tesco – Community Workshops (Stairfoot Store)

We’re delighted to be hosting our creative wellbeing workshops at the Community Room inside Tesco Extra, Wombwell Lane, Stairfoot (S70 3NS). This welcoming space has been specially designed to support local organisations, charities, churches, and community groups by providing a free and accessible place to meet and connect.

The room comfortably accommodates up to 15 people, making it ideal for our small, supportive workshop sessions. Free tea and coffee making facilities are available, helping to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where participants can feel at ease.

There is no charge to use the space, reflecting Tesco’s commitment to supporting the local community and encouraging inclusive, accessible activities for all.

More venues will be added throughout the year, helping us reach different communities and make it easier for more people to take part.

🎨 What to Expect from Our Workshops

Our sessions include a range of themes such as:

  • Look Around the Garden

Each workshop is inspired by nature, mindfulness, and creative expression. You don’t need any previous art experience—just a willingness to have a go.

We focus on:

  • Slowing down and being present
  • Exploring creativity in a gentle, guided way
  • Supporting mental wellbeing
  • Building connections with others in a safe, friendly space

💚 Why Join Us?

People join our workshops for many different reasons, and everyone is welcome. You might be looking to:

  • Reduce stress or anxiety
  • Take time out for yourself
  • Meet like-minded people
  • Reconnect with creativity
  • Enjoy a sense of calm and purpose

Our sessions are particularly valued by carers, those experiencing isolation, and anyone wanting a supportive environment to simply be.

🔁 Making Sessions Accessible for Everyone

Due to growing interest in our workshops, we know spaces fill quickly. To help as many people as possible take part:

  • Some sessions will be repeated across different venues
  • Group sizes are kept small (around 12 participants) to maintain a calm and supportive atmosphere
  • We offer a variety of days and times, so you can find something that fits your schedule

This flexible approach helps ensure that no one misses out.
